A good book on your shelf is a friend that turns its back on you and remains a friend

Sorry again for the late posts... again. I just wanted to show you some good books I've been reading for a few weeks, I know they may sound girly and stuff but I think they're really interesting.

Feel free to comment below if you have any other books ideas that would be interesting =)

I like to read about relationships because it's a really scary thing to me now, all the pressure of priorities, feelings and commitment will follow us for the rest of our lives so it might be useful to get good advices.

In a refreshingly honest investigation of the true nature of love, don Miguel Ruiz brings to light the commonly held fallacies and misplaced expectations about love that permeate most relationships. In the tradition of Carlos Castaneda, he uses inspirational stories to impart the wisdom of three fundamental Toltec masteries (Awareness, Transformation, and Love). The themes explored include the Toltec wisdom of the heart, the track of love, and the war of control.

Here's something a little fun, just to help you ladies define what's your style, and just feel comfortable in your skin =)
I Love Your Style is a sumptuous full-color look-book and style bible, complete with more than 400 classic and modern photographs, that will both empower and inspire women to dive into the challenge of defining, or refining, their personal style. With fully illustrated chapters, sidebars, shopping lists, and personal stories devoted to a range diverse styles and shopping techniques-Classic, Bohemian, Minimalist, Street, High-Fashion, Cheap Chic, Vintage-Brooks walks readers through every angle of the fashion world, from the basic pieces and accessories that define a style, to the small details, combinations, and adaptations that can make it your own.

This one may be one of the most surprising books I have read so far. The author is a young canadian lady that I really like =) her story is amazing and it really gives you motivation to seek your own goals

Office Rules No One's Told You Yet - by COSMO

Showing up on time and being a hard worker aren't enough. To really succeed, you need to put these little-known (and seemingly counterintuitive) secrets to use...

1. Don’t be afraid to piss people off.
When your boss asks you about the lateness of a project in a meeting, you call out your co-worker for missing a major deadline on it. Awkward, yes, but don't even think about apologizing to her post-meeting. If she wants to hold a grudge against you, let her — the fact is, she wasn't doing her job, and you called a spade a spade. "I've had meetings with people where I've repeated in my head, 'it doesn’t matter if she likes me,' and I've found that allows me to be exact, honest, and to give thought-out, unemotional answers," says Brzezinski. "It doesn't matter if your co-workers like you. If you are being productive and you're being valuable, your work adds to the equation of the company. You will stay there and you will thrive," she says.
2. Brag about your accomplishments first. Then ask for a raise.
Talking to your boss about a raise can be an uncomfortable conversation — just ask Brzezinski. She’s been there — and gotten shot down — a few times. Her secret weapon for success: a list. "Make a list of everything you do, how much time it takes, and what value it brings to the company. Research what people in your position at other companies make for their accomplishments. How much value do they bring to the table? Do you bring more, and why?" Use this list as the basis of your conversation with your boss, and then ask for your salary to be increased to reflect your value. If your request isn't met, don't get emotional about it. Use the information you prepared to update your resume so you can be ready to move on when an opportunity arises. And continue to be professional and do your best at work until you have a better offer.
3. Keep your friends close… And leave your co-workers at the office.
"You have colleagues. Get used to the word," advises Brzezinski. "They're not your friends. In tough, stressful, competitive industries, there aren't that many friends. Get over that." Cut the chit-chat on Gchat, the mid-afternoon coffee runs, or the hour-long let's-bitch-about-our-bosses lunch. You'll be amazed at how much you accomplish in one week. And the best part? You'll have more time to spend with your real friends — the ones who were there when you were unemployed and sleeping on their couches.
4. Remember business is business. It's not personal.
Your co-worker got chosen to lead a big project, while you're left sitting pretty on the sidelines. Wait until you get home to call your BFF and bitch. If you need to, go outside and scream. But remember, tomorrow offers a fresh start. "Don't let anything build up in your mind," says Brzezinski. "We constantly let clutter into our brains and it just builds up — and distracts us." Focus on the fact that while she's leading the project, you're still part of the team. Letting the resentment stew in your mind just makes you less able to do your best work.
5. Make yourself visible (and not just by wearing something red).
"Do you need to scream at the top of your lungs like a man and pound on the table? No," says Brzezinski. But you do need to find a way to call out your accomplishments. "Being excited about your work is great. Send an email to your boss about a goal that's been met or a deal that's been struck," she advises. Bring attention to yourself and don't feel uncomfortable about it. "You've got to find your own attractive way of communication." So whether it's an email, or a weekly meeting where you outline goals you've accomplished, be your own cheerleader, and your boss will think of you when it's time for a promotion.

It's amazing how those cultures are different from ours, we just go to work and complain about everything when those people struggle against nature just to go to school. I feel so respectful to this people! They should rule the world.

How to Be Confident

I found this article really interesting

Confident people are like magnets…they tend to capture the attention, trust and respect of those around them. They believe they can do it, so they take risks and reap the rewards.
But there is a thin line between being confident and being arrogant. No one likes a know-it-all, or someone who doesn’t listen because they believe they have nothing to learn. If you display arrogance, you may turn people off, lose potential opportunities and hurt your reputation. Not to mention it can be a lonely way to live. So here are some ways to maximize your confidence without encroaching into arrogance territory.

Be Approachable

Having confidence doesn’t do you any good if you become standoffish or unfriendly because of it. You want to be able to enhance and develop relationships, not make people view you guardedly. You can make yourself more approachable by making eye contact and using body language that invites conversation.

Be Sincere

Arrogant people either rarely offer compliments or do so in a way that feels forced and artificial, and it can almost undermine the success of the other person. Make a point to frequently and genuinely acknowledge the hard work and successes of those around you, even those who you may consider competition.

Be Humble

Modesty and confidence work exceptionally well together in the battle against arrogance. To be considered confident without arrogance, act with humility when you are recognized for a job well done, and be accountable for your role in any errors that transpire.

Be Wrong

Arrogance almost always comes with a perpetual belief that you are right, while confidence balances your ability to listen and learn from those around you. While it may seem that admitting uncertainty can chip away at your level of confidence, the opposite is true. Being clear about what you know and what you don’t know can be liberating, and it’s usually appreciated by others.

Be Forthcoming
You’re confident because you’re good at what you do. Instead of sitting on a pedestal with your knowledge in your pocket, share it.

Beyonce wants you to MOVE YOUR BODY

I wonder how many girls (or guys) lost weight dancing on Beyonce's songs... lol I wasn't surprised when Michelle Obama decided to team up with Beyonce on the "Let's Move" campaign to fight childhood obesity! Such a good spokesperson for youth ! Beyonce is one of the best role models of our generation.

Here's a re-written version of her hit Get Me Bodied, turned into an energetic dance routine!
Smart move! And hopefully it will help the kids to move!

Food!!!!

Okay so I know you've noticed that I LOOOVE food! I like to try new places and this time I want to talk to you about a place I've been a few times now and that I really like. It's called the Barber Shop, and it's one of my favorite places to have brunch on sunday =)

It's a nice place, cozy and trendy. The walls are decorated with graffitis, and street art with vintage items all over the place! Oh and there's a DJ playing for us =) What else? Every time I go there the place is crowded so you should make a reservation for groups...
I'll be there next sunday to enjoy my american brunch with egg and bacon muffins, grapefruit juice, pancakes and more!

The american brunch =)
egg and bacon muffins, salad, baked potatoes, hot chocolate, grapefruit juice, pancakes and more!

Another Reason Women Love Men of Mystery

OMG that is so true! Guys that play hard to get drives girl crazy!!

File this study under: Ughhh. New research claims that when a guy isn't sure how he feels about a woman (or keeps her in the dark regarding his feelings), she tends to feel more attracted to him.
The findings, which were published in the journalPsychological Science, just confirm what many people already suspected: not only does playing hard to get work, but so does playing hard toread. An article onScienceDaily.comexplained it this way: "If Sarah is not sure how much Bob likes her...this might lead Sarah to spend a lot of time thinking about Bob, wondering how he feels, and she might find him more attractive the more she dwells on him."

The study was conducted by taking female students at the University of Virginia and showing them Facebook profiles of four guys (the profiles were made up, but the women didn't know that). The scientists told the women that their own profiles had been viewed by the guys. One section of women was told that the men liked their profiles the most. Another group was told that the guys felt so-so about them. And the third group of subjects weren't told how the guys felt about them.
The women who knew that the guys were interested reported feeling attracted to the men. But the women who had no idea if those men were interested reported even higher levels of attraction.
Do you think the same is true when the roles are reversed? If a guy doesn't know whether or not a woman is attracted to him, do you think he tends to be more into her?

TOP iPhone Apps !!

Yes I KNOW I used to be in the Blackberry Gang lol but I left the squad when I got my iPhone 4 =) Sorry guys but I fell in love with this cutie, it's 10 times better ! I'm like a phone addict, I sleep with it, text all time, spend hours at night calling, tweeting, checking my emails, listening to music. I figured my Blackberry could't handle it with all it's bugs ! ANYWAYS I don't want to get HATE comments from the Pro BB lol so I'm just gonna go with my fav iPhone Apps excluding the games because it would be too long haha!

#5 : PINGCHAT : The 1st thing I downloaded when I left BBM =) so I can still chat with my friends from Android, Blackberry and iPhone . You can even have group conversations which is perfect when you're organizing something with your friends, you can share pictures, music for free.

Well that's pretty much it for my favorite iPhone Apps! Of course I have many more that I use everyday but it would be way too long to show it to you guys!

15 Jobs Where Women Earn More Than Men

Forbes ran an article reviewing fifteen jobs in which women make more money that men, which unfortunately, is still a semi-novel idea.  In 2010, women still earn 81% of what men take in, on average.  Certain fields, however, are dominated by females.

1. Bakers: Fun fact: although baking is a traditionally “feminine” field, men outnumber women. Despite this, women still make 104% more than men.

2. Mangers/Supervisors of Construction: Men comprise 97% of this profession, but women still rake in more than the average salary.

3. Dining room attendants/Bar helpers: Women make an about $2,000/year more than their male counterparts.

4. Personal Appearance Workers: A field that includes manicurists, make up artists, and groomers favors the ladies, salary speaking.

5. Interviewers: Women dominate this field, both in numbers and pay checks.

6. Preschool and Kindergarten Teachers: Women comprise 98% of this field, so no surprise.

7. Teacher Assistants: Women earn 105% as much as men in this occupation.

8. Life, Physical, Health, and Social Science Technicians: Females in this word take home an average of $17 more per week.

9. Dietitians and Nutritionists: Women make up for 83% of dietitians and nutritionists, and make more cash too.

10. Occupational Therapists: Occupational therapy is one of the best paying jobs for women, where they make more than the median salary.

11. Order Clerks: I guess women are better at turning complaints into money.

12. Information and Record Clerks:
 Female-dominated field. Female-dominated salary.

13. Construction/Maintenance Painters: While females only account for 3% of this area, they make more dough doing so.

14. Aircraft, Vehicle, and Mobile Equipment Mechanics:
Similarly, women only occupy a small percentage of this expertise, but make more than the average.

15. Construction workers: Few women, but big comparative salaries.

We all know what happened in Japan friday...
I was so chocked by this disaster. I don't even know what to say.
Everyday more and more videos show us how horrible it was =/

May the survivors be safe, the missing be found and the dead at peace.

This earthquake/tsunami/nuclear is really effed up =(

How to Beat the Winter Blues

1. Turn on your lights as soon as your alarm goes off—trying to get ready for work in the dark will only make you sleepier and more sluggish.

2. Wake up to the smell of coffee. Set your coffeemaker to turn on a few minutes before you rise and breathe in the irresistible scent.

3. Bundle up and take a walk during lunch. The artificial light you’re under all day is no substitute for the real thing. Getting out and actually soaking up whatever sun you can while breathing fresh air will lift your spirits.

4. Make happy hour pacts. It can be so easy to run home straight after work, but parking yourself in front of the TV or Facebook every night will only depress you. Agree to meet your friends once a week for drinks.

5. Have before-dinner sex. Is there any better way to take advantage of the last hour of daylight?

6. Take a vitamin D supplement, which has mood-enhancing benefits. In the colder months, you just can’t get enough naturally from the sun’s rays.

7. Re-decorate. When it’s grey outside, make it bright inside. Add splashes of color to your home with poppy lamps and pillows. Or, if you’re feeling especially adventurous, paint your walls yellow for maximum happiness infusion.

8. Pick up a few buds from a local shop to display in your apartment for some much-needed freshness and a little life.

9. Plan a mini outdoor getaway. Don’t spend your days off inside and waste daylight you can enjoy. Go sledding or explore a nearby town and check out the holiday window displays, which are usually great this time of year.

10. Have a romantic dinner by candlelight. Take advantage of the darkness and turn your apartment into the ultimate sultry escape. We don’t need to tell you what happens next.

Summer Jamming

Gosh this week end was soooo sunny, too bad I caught the flu and had to stay home stuffing myself with all kinds of pills. (not so cool) I spent a lot of time watching movies and reading books =) Which is kind of cool actually because I don't take time to do that anymore... I almost spend all my weekends out and about, shopping, meeting up with people and so i never get to REST...
Anyways my point is I really miss the sunny days cause I hate winter (cold + rain = lazyness)
