Thank Me Later, has sold nearly half a million copies in its first week.
With 447,000 albums sold, Drake has secured the third-best debut of this year, following behind Lady Antebellum and Sade. He also managed to rank #1 in Billboard’s Top 200 Albums. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Drake bested the other top 5 Billboard chart toppers with more sales than all of them combined. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ Mojo secured the #2 spot, followed by Laws of Illusion by Sarah McLachlan. Billboard’s Top 5 is rounded out with Now 34 and Jack Johnson’s To the Sea.
Drake has some competition, though. Eminem’s Recovery which was released Tuesday, promises to be this year’s biggest debut of the year. Predictions have Eminem at the #1 spot on the Billboard chat with 500,000 copies sold.
